Below you will find the steps that need to be taken to become a health educator. You’ll be teaching health education in no time!
1. High school – The road to any great future position starts in high school. Your grade point average and SAT scores will help universities to decide whether or not you have the drive and ambition to join their ranks. This is also where you will be receiving a basic health education that you will be building upon later. If you have any questions, do not be afraid to ask your health educator about their career, they will most likely be happy to impart that type of knowledge on a bright young individual.
2. College – When you head to a university, you will most likely be majoring in either Health Science or Health Education. The names for the health educator majors may vary, but the content will remain relatively similar. Here you will be adding to the health education base you built while you were in high school, and much more. A big part of the Health Science major is participating in community health projects. After all, being a health educator is about bringing information to the public and you helping your community.
3. Work force – Now that you have gotten your degree in Health Education, you are ready to become a full fledged health educator, congratulations! What you will be doing now is planning the curriculum for your students in your health education class and then will be teaching them directly. A health educator should be able to keep their class informative and fun at the same time, so keep that in mind.
Hopefully you are up for the hard work it takes to become a health educator, because the benefits are well worth it. You will be molding today’s youth into conscious individuals and helping them stay healthy for years to come. There are many kids that look forward to their health education class every day, so make sure you deliver.
